How to sign up as a Professional Body
How do I sign-up as a Professional Body?
To sign-up to Inspiring the Future as a professional body is free, and we make it easier to track sign-ups and activity of both your staff and members.
We will also assign you a member of the engagement team to deal with any queries and help you may require.
What kind of reporting to you provide?
We provide regular reporting on employee/member activity so internally you can report back, and we are happy to chat through different types of promotional activity we may be able to help with. The reports include:
- Job title
- Activity information – name of school, town, activity requested e.g. career insight, help with CVs, number of hours
- Volunteer Reply – Are the happy to attend or unable to attend

The registration process
How to register as a Professional Body
Contact the Inspiring the Future Engagement team directly at firstname.lastname@example.org and someone will get back to you to talk through the options.
When signed up – what your employees/members will need to do
Your employees/members will be asked to provide a few more details, and what they can offer as a volunteer.
This will take volunteers to the Inspiring the Future portal, where they will be asked to provide a few basic details, their email address and password and a few more details about themselves, and what they can offer as a volunteer.
They’ll be asked to select specialisms and activities that thy can volunteer for – currently these are:
|Design and Manufacturing||Help with CVs|
|Financial Literacy||Numeracy relating to careers (Primary)|
|Maths – Using it at work||Reading relating to careers (Primary)|
|Science and Technology||Being contacted about becoming a school governor|
|Languages – French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu, Arabic|
If you’re a member of a professional body, please type and search for the professional body when completing your profile in the section, ‘My memberships of Professional Association’.
(Private email addresses and phone numbers are not visible to either party). Schools/Governors will search for volunteers from their ’Find Volunteers’ page, and send invite messages to appropriate volunteers, asking them to get involved in an activity they have coming up. Volunteers can either accept or decline the event depending on their workload and availability.
Inspiring the Future Invitations
Teachers can contact volunteers and invite them to their Inspiring the Future event. Having received the invite message containing the time commitment requested and the activity date, if defined, they can reply to indicate if they are able to be involved or request further information. Ongoing conversations can take place where they can change your availability, if necessary, and feedback is automatically triggered to participants after the event.
We ask a few questions of both volunteers and schools about how the event went. We strongly recommend that this is completed, as it allows us to keep an eye of the quality of volunteers and whether the service is working for both parties. We also use your feedback to report to funders, which will help to keep this service free to schools and volunteers.
Planning and preparation
Volunteers can expect invite messages from teachers in schools/colleges once they are matched in the system. When you are contacted you might want to talk about:
- Length: how long you can be with the students
- What topics you can cover and how can you best use your expertise
- The equipment available (if relevant)
Before the session
- Volunteers should arrive in good time before the session to give them the best opportunity to speak to the teacher and set up the room
- If they are going to be late or cancel their appointment, they need to let the teacher know as soon as possible
- Ensure you know which member of staff will be with you during your visit
- Tell them if you need a car parking space
