Welcome to Inspiring the Future Isle of Man, the free web based service which allows schools and IOM College quick and easy access to a huge database of volunteers from the world of work who can be approached to offer careers talks and other activities in schools on the Isle of Man.
Following the successful speed dating event at Ramsey Grammar School launching “Inspiring the Future” and a week of employer engagement activities in island schools last October, the Isle of Man Department of Economic Development and the Department of Education and Children have been working closely together with the Education and Employers Taskforce to develop closer links on the island between schools and employers. Supported by DED, we are now able to launch this specifically Manx branch of the website www.inspiringthefuture.org/isleofman
In order for this scheme to work, we really need schools and as many people as possible to sign up. Please follow the step by step guide to registration as a school, as a volunteer or as an employer.
Volunteers in England have so far come from many walks of life and from a variety of backgrounds. They range from young apprentices to chief executives, archaeologists to zoologists, firefighters to doctors, engineers to pharmacists, academic research assistants to vice-chancellors of universities. Thousands of volunteers from small, medium sized and multi-national companies have already signed up and dozens more are registering every day as the word spreads and the project grows.
We hope that a high profile “Inspiring Women” event, supported by President of Tynwald Hon. Clare Christian B.Sc. MLC during the week beginning 21st March 2016 will further encourage a large number of people on the Isle of Man (including parents!) from the world of work to sign up.
