I have extensive experience of teaching in schools where many of the pupils have little experience of adults who regularly work. Part of the school’s aim is to raise aspirations by introducing children to the wide range of career options available to them. We do this by engaging with a range of local businesses who support activities in school and offer opportunities for children to visit their premises for enrichment experiences. Further to this, we actively engage in projects that challenge gender stereotypes. Examples of this include female robotics and engineering sessions, females leading computer coding club, boys accessing dance classes.
