Aspirations, Inspiring the Future and the Isle of Man

Nick Chambers visited the Isle of Man in the summer of 2018, delivering a seminar to a range of education professionals and related organisations; Nick explained current research regarding aspirations in primary education. He highlighted that the purpose of primary school careers related learning is not to direct children into deciding on their career at an early age or push them into growing up quickly but to broaden students understanding of opportunity, raise aspirations and challenge stereotypes.

Nick visited Sulby Primary School observing their approach to careers based education; an integral part of their curriculum. Sulby ensure students have regular contact with a range of professionals and take an age appropriate approach to raising and maintaining aspirations within their school.
