Free, fun, and inspiring activities to motivate children and bring learning to life by connecting schools with workplace volunteers.

London Careers Festival 2023 – Primary Futures

London Careers Festival (27 June – 7 July) is back again and we’re excited to be hosting three virtual activities with our inspiring volunteers who are keen to talk to your pupils all about their jobs!

Check out the details for our activities and the links to register below.

What’s My Line?

Year group: targeted at Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 (but all year groups welcome)

Date and time: Tues 27 June, 9:30 – 10:30 am

Description: This session follows our popular ‘What’s My Line?’ job-guessing game format, with volunteers incorporating storytelling and visuals, props and/or uniform to engage children in their jobs. Volunteers might challenge common gender stereotypes, such as females in technology or males in healthcare, and all will speak to how gender doesn’t limit future possibilities.

Green Futures – Jobs in Sustainability

Year group: targeted at Years 4, 5 and 6 (but all year groups welcome)

Date and time: Wed 28 June, 9:30 – 10:30 am

Description: Building on children’s natural sense of climate justice, this activity is an opportunity to link this passion to future jobs and aspirations; helping children to understand the vast range of jobs associated with sustainability and highlight how childhood interests and passions can develop into careers.  Children will begin with a quick multiple-choice quiz about sustainability before being introduced to the volunteers and engaging in Q&A via the secure chat function.

Everyday Heroes – People Who Help Us

Year group: targeted at Years 1, 2 and 3 (but all year groups welcome)

Date and time: Thurs 29 June, 9:30 – 10:30 am

Description: During this engaging virtual activity, children will have the opportunity to meet a panel of volunteers working in a range of jobs that make a difference, which may include jobs children are familiar with and exposure to new ones. Children take part in a Q&A to find out more about their jobs. Volunteers will incorporate storytelling and visuals, props or uniform to engage children in their jobs.
