Children in Uganda meet inspirational volunteers at the country’s first Primary Futures

On 10 August 2018, Primary Futures launched in Uganda. The Good Shepherd school, based in Katwadde in the Masake District, welcomed inspirational volunteers from the world of work. Among the volunteers was a Psychiatrist, Medical Doctor, General Practitioner, Journalist, Agriculturist, Electrician and Project Manager. The volunteers spoke to the children about their jobs, opening their eyes to exciting futures that they can aspire to.

Career Footsteps recently made a journey to Bristol, a port city with a rich maritime history and the proud home of John Cabot who sailed across the Atlantic and named Newfoundland in Canada. On the July 9, students at the John Cabot Academy welcomed Career Footsteps and a range a volunteers from a vocational training background.

Primary Futures to launch in Uganda

On the 10th August 2018 the Good Shepherd School Katwadde in the Masake District of Uganda are holding a Primary Futures event. The school is located in a particularly deprived rural area, a five-hour drive from the capital Kampala. John Ssentamu the Head Teacher contacted Education and Employers a couple of years ago having seen a clip about Primary Futures and the impact it was having on children, esp from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Melland High School, a specialist SEN school in Manchester, welcomed Career Footsteps. Volunteers, who took a range of vocational routes into the world of work, were welcomed to Melland High School. Students from year 7 to 14 had the opportunity to ask them questions about their careers and the route they took to get there.

Inspiring the Future of Apprenticeships with London Early Years Foundation

On Friday 13 July, students from Central Foundation Girls' School, Lilian Baylis School, Fulham College and Harris Academy South Norwood were provided with the opportunity to talk to both the Education and Employers and London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) teams about apprenticeships. The morning consisted of talks about apprenticeships, and an introduction to the apprenticeships available at LEYF.
