GlaxoSmithKline and Inspiring the Future Apprenticeship Event

Staff at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) recently welcomed 30 students from three different schools to their offices in Ware for an event designed to give the students a more in-depth understanding of what apprenticeships are. This event was ran as part the Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools project (ASK), a project to increase the awareness and understanding of apprenticeships. Education and Employers is the delivery partner to London and the South.

In a summer term full of Career Footsteps events, the next school to welcome volunteers from the world of work was Sandbach High School and Sixth Form on 27 of June. This event consisted of four workshops from professionals from several different fields with one thing in common: they have all taken a vocational path to success.

A new survey published today by Education and Employers in partnership with TES and NAHT reveals the importance teachers place on introducing children to the world of work. The survey asks 250 primary schools heads and teaches across England about their opinions on career learning in primary and its impact.

Inspiring the Future of Apprenticeships with JP Morgan

As part of the Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools project, members of the Education and Employers team visited the JP Morgan office in sunny Bournemouth. The event gave 60 students aged 14-18 the opportunity to tour the JP Morgan office, speak to current apprentices at JP Morgan and learn more about the variety of apprenticeship programmes on offer.

Inspiring the Future with the Home Office

On Monday 19 June, Inspiring the Future was joined at The John Fisher School in Purley by Sir Philip Rutnam and over 60 volunteers from the Home Office. Almost every department in the Home Office was represented, providing the boys at John Fisher with an opportunity to learn about the many different careers in the Civil Service.

One sunny morning in Leeds the year 10 students at Cockburn School were getting ready to prepare for the world of work. With work experience on the horizon, they had the opportunity to meet several volunteers in a speed networking session. This event was designed to give students a deeper understanding of the different careers available to them.
